📬 La newsletter del divendres #1 — The Friday's newsletter #1
Des d'Alemanya fins a EUA, passant per Espanya i Noruega - From Germany to the USA, passing through Spain and Norway.
A love letter to the conservation and study of Polychromed Wooden Sculpture and all the cool resources about it around the net. It’s a one-year bi-monthly newsletter project done just for fun. It’s also not perfect and doesn’t intend to, but rather a space to share. Edited in Catalan and English.

📷(Alemanya).
(Germany). The sculptures of the Suermondth-Ludwig-Museum waiting patiently. Funny though, is one of the less-visited museums in Germany, but with a spectacular sculpture collection. Note aside, I made the effort to go to Aachen just to visit the museum, to later discover that photos are not allowed and they didn’t have the catalogue in the museum shop at that moment.

🤓 una invitació (França) — an invitation (France)
Més a - more on Sculpté, gravé, peint, moulé, estampé.

From time to time, some museums do their homework with Youtube. The MET’s Youtube is one of them and the conference is another beautiful example: Online, free, and super interesting. Worth subscribing to the channel as well as following this Instagram account and this second account.

This section is simply to remember those exhibitions that WE WISH could be open again. One of my favourites and that I could not go to see: “The Sacred made real”. A must-see exhibition for the hyperrealistic Spanish baroque sculpture and paintings. It was the first time that many of these masterpieces could be seen in one place (some of which are still in use). I managed to get one of the last copies of the catalogue in London. If you want to cry, see some videos of it here and here, and some audios (right column).

📖 (Alemanya/EUA) El inigualable “Polychrome sculpture.
(Germany/USA) A must: “Polychrome sculpture. Meaning, Form, Conservation” by Johannes Taulbert, newly edited in English by Michele D. Marincola (more on her soon). I have it completely bookmarked.
It is the conjunction of the different materials that gives rise to the object as a unified whole. We must never lose sight of this unified whole when we are looking at a historical object. (p. 134).
Let’s speak now about the super interesting online project “Carved Flemish altarpieces in Spain” created by Albayalde (more on them soon) and several Spanish public institutions. The website makes you aware of the immense work that must be done to put this catalogue out and the very need to continue the documentation of the cultural heritage. Next week though we will cover another subject in this section, a treasure hunt! that I hope, maybe some of you will help me to find.

Fins aquí l’entreteniment setmanal. Ens veiem en dues setmanes? That’s a wrap for this week's entertainment. See you in two weeks?
